Inventories of semiconductors used in all kinds of electronics gadgets soared faster than expected during the first three months of the year, but there's no reason to be alarmed about a chip glut, market researcher iSuppli Corp. said Tuesday.
Motorola Inc. Tuesday said its sales in the first quarter soared to a record high as it shipped more mobile phones and set-top boxes during a three month period than ever before.
Sharp Corp. is planning to increase production at its two LCD (liquid crystal display) factories in Japan in response to anticipated soaring demand for flat-panel LCD televisions over the next few years, it said Wednesday. The company also expects to report record sales in 2006.
